High on a hilltop overlooking New Braunfels, this log fortress was erected by Prince Carl of Solms-Braunfels between 1844-1847. Today the building is known as the Sophienburg Museum. Inside are thousands of items, including newspapers from the 1850s, oral history tapes, photographs and numerous period pieces and artifacts.
